Introducing Socrates

I thought I'd try another softie, what do you think?

Socrates

Socrates is made from 100% cotton fabric (recycled brown cotton jeans and kaffe fassett fabric) and filled with polyfill and a lavender bag - he smells divine.

Bibs, bibs and more bibs

I caught up with a couple of my gorgeous girlfriends recently, and they each have an almost one year old bub. I thought I'd try my hand at making some bibs for them (the bubs that is!).

What do you think of these?

Purple Paisley - how surprising? ;-)

Some bright animals!
Some gorgeous doggies.
A bit of camo to hide the spills.
Then I thought I'd try a smock like bib, I'm quite happy with the result.

Yummy cherries, front and back!
Now clever people, could someone please give me some tips about how  to make my binding better, especially how to finish it.  I've been overlapping my ends which is chunky and ugly, I'd love some tips on how to make it look nice.  Perhaps there is a tutorial in blogland that you can point me towards, or you might have a secret or two of your own?  I'd love any assistance you can offer.

Thanks!

Introducing Obtuse!

Like many of you, I absolutely, positively, unashamedly LOVE the gorgeous softies designed by Melly & Me. My favourite is Acute, and I bought the pattern for him yonks ago but only recently had a go at making my own little Acute - it is quite daunting to try and replicate something that looks so darling!
So, I'd started making mine and then I saw that Melly & Me were auctioning some of their softies & patterns to raise $$$ for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.  I HAD to bid on Acute, and eventually, I won him!  Yay!!!!
Knowing that Acute was on his way to me, I thought I'd better join my little softie up and have a friend ready and waiting for him.  Unfortunately for Acute, thinking about this was as far as I got, so he arrived with a friend still in pieces waiting to be made whole.  Finally, I put his little friend together, and Obtuse was born!  He is nowhere near as perfect as Acute, but they enjoy each others company, and that's the main thing.
Here they are for your viewing pleasure!

Just two buddies hanging out in all their quirky glory!
Thanks Melly & Rosie for all your gorgeous creations, and especially for my very own Acute!  It is awesome to own the Acute made by Melly & Rosie, and even more special because they donated the proceeds of my purchase to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
Handmade Helps Out is rallying together the creative community and doing some wonderful things to help the bushfire affected community in Victoria.  If you haven't already, go check it out here.  There is so much to be done, and so many little ways that we can all contribute, either by buying ourselves a lovely handmade gift or by making something to donate, or by giving money to the Red Cross.
Thanks for stopping by, please say hello to let me know you've visited and I'll stop by your place later.
Hugs, Kelly :-)

Sunday Stash - IWD FQ Swap

Hey there, I'm back!  I've been a bit quiet on the blog front, altho I've still been travelling around blogland, drooling at the wonderful creative goodness happening around the place and popping in to say hello and make a comment here and there.  I love blogland, it is such a wonderful place!

Okay, so I've been a bit remiss with posting Sunday Stash, and am totally ashamed as the organiser of the International Women's Day FQ swap that it has taken me this long to show you my goodies.  I was slack in getting my stuff off to dear Katy too, but she's told me [and I choose to believe her :-)], that tardiness is one of her fave qualities in a person.  She loves me!

So....., here are the lovely FQs I received from the Ginger Monkey herself.

Yes, yes, we were only supposed to send 4 FQs, but like many creative folk, Katy struggles with math, she is a monkey after all! ;-)

Can you read the notes on the gorgeous birdie note paper?  3 FQs of gorgeous Liberty - how darling is that, and very Katy!

Then a little bit of bright, bold Dutch love especially for me!

And last, but definitely not least, some Cath Kidston fabric!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Katy, I LOVE them all!!!!
If you want to see what goodies the others sent and received, click on their names shown here.
Want to play Sunday Stash and show off your goodies, or just want to see what goodies others have in their stash?  Okay, go visit Tam, she'll sort you out!
I was going to do an extra big post and show off my goodies from the Sew Mama Sew swaps I went in, but I'll save that for next week!
Hugs for all of you, and thanks for visiting!
Kelly :-)

Beaded Watch Giveaway

How excitement - another giveaway!!!

As much as I LOVE a fabric giveaway, this is something a little different.  Jellybelly*jellybrain is giving away a custom made beaded watch to one lucky blogger.

To enter you just have to comment on this post on Jellybelly's blog and tell her what colourway you would like your watch in.  If you link to her blog and let her know, she will give you another entry.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!  Jellybelly DOESN'T have any GOLD watch faces atm, so if you want a gold one you're out of luck.  If you mention a gold face in your comment you will be disqualified from winning.  Just repeating for clarity, there are NO GOLD watch faces available.  Okay???

The winner will be drawn on Sunday, 8 March 2009.

Drop by and check out Jellybelly's giveaway - the watches look fab! Guess which colourway I've chosen. LOL!

Hugs
Kelly :-)

Sunday Stash

Hi everyone (anyone?)!

I didn't get around to posting Sunday Stash last weekend so thought I'd get in early this week.

Today I'm showing some sassy fabric I ordered online from the USA.  I already had some of the gorgeous "factory girl" fabric which I used in a bag that is currently sitting in my WIVSP (Works in very slow progress) pile. I needed more of this fabric for the handles so went on the hunt.

SWEET SUCCESS!

I also found some other fabric that I just HAD to have.  Again I'm thinking bags - I'm always thinking bags!  Actually, softies are starting to occupy my thoughts too, but I don't think these fabrics really lend themselves to softies.  Quilts take tooooooooo long.  I'm still plugging away at a wonky star quilt top for the Bushfire Quilt Project.  I'm hoping to complete it this weekend.  I'll post some photos once it's done.
